How to use Google Earth to measure the square footage of your yard:
- Go to Google Earth Website or Download the App
- When the page is loaded - locate the search bar in the top left corner.
- Enter your address into the search bar to locate your property.
- Zoom and rotate the image to center your property on the screen.
- Click the Path / Polygon button at the top of the page or in the app.
- Select a starting point on the map were you want to draw your perimeter line. Draw the perimeter lines for the area you want to have mowing service for. There will be a window or area that will tell you how much the area of the property is. You can switch between square meters, square feet, acres, etc. by clicking the arrow in the area section.
- Once you have found a rough estimate of your property area in square feet, simply use that information to select the mowing service that is perfect for you!
Tips for measuring:
- Draw you lines either directly on or just outside the intended ares.
- Measure to the curb if you have sidewalks. Many homes have a sidewalk and then a patch of grass along the curb.
- It is always better over estimate than to underestimate.
